Milo Yiannopoulos has gone from campaigning for Donald Trump to saying he is “ashamed” he ever supported him.
The British commentator blasted his former political ally after ICE detained him in New Orleans and deported him to the United Kingdom on August 29.
“To think that the promise and hope and joy and the anticipation of Trump 2016 could, sort of, over the course of 10 years, collapse into this ugly, warmongering, whole mentally ill heap of crazy,” said Yiannopoulos on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
He added, “I would never have got involved in supporting Trump in the first place and I’m very ashamed that I did.”
DHS said Yiannopoulos overstayed a visa issued in 2019 and missed a July immigration hearing but he disputes both claims and alleges that important notices were mailed to an address he left years ago.
Yiannopoulos described the government’s explanation as “a lie from top to bottom” and said he intends to appeal the deportation.
He also recalled being shackled, going without food for 24 hours and being moved repeatedly while in custody. “This was not a normal, lawful process,” he said.
Yiannopoulos says he has now returned to his job managing lawyers for Ye within two days of arriving in Britain.
“I manage his lawyers, which I can do from anywhere,” he added.
