Lil Durk has received unexpected support in his fight for freedom as the mother of the man killed in his federal murder case says she does not oppose his release on bond.
The Chicago rapper, whose real name is Durk Banks, is seeking release from custody while awaiting a second trial after being acquitted of murder-for-hire charges in September.
His attorneys filed a motion on Tuesday, along with seven letters of support, including messages from JAY-Z, J. Cole, and businessman Michael Rubin. One was a brief letter from Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson’s mother, saying she would not object to Durk’s release if the judge approved it. Robinson was killed in a shooting connected to an alleged murder-for-hire plot involving the rapper.
Former Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx also supported his request.

“Given his acquittal and that presumption, I believe he should be released on reasonable conditions set by the Court,” she wrote.
Durk’s legal team argues that the jury’s earlier verdict weakens prosecutors’ case against him. To address concerns about fleeing, his attorneys have proposed a bond package involving music earnings, property and financial guarantees from supporters.
The rapper has also reportedly embraced sobriety, therapy and his Muslim faith while incarcerated.
Despite his acquittal, Durk still faces a separate murder-related racketeering charge stemming from Robinson’s death.
His next trial is scheduled for Aug. 30, 2027, with a bond hearing set for Nov. 4.
