Joe Budden doesn’t believe that City Girl new album only sold 6,000 first week because they are on a major label.
Budden and his cohosts discussed the reported flop on his podcast.
“I don’t know of an artist that’s signed to a major that’s doing 6,000,” Ice said.
Budden replied, “I need to have that number confirmed. It still sounds unbelievable to me. I’m with you [Ice] as far as how they counted that — maybe it’s the pure album sales. Somebody was trying to hurt them during their release.”
RAW reportedly sold 10K album-equivalent units in its first week debuting at No. 117 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. 10,000 is more than 6,000 but the group were still expected to sell more.
JT admitted they were to blame in a recent Breakfast Club interview.
“It’s tough times. You get what you put in, in this sh-t. And I feel like, collectively, we didn’t do what we had to do to promote the album. But if you don’t go hard with promoting your sh-t, and putting it in people’s face, it’s like, of course it’s going to miss people.”
