Former NFL running back Zac Stacy, has been sentenced to prison over a 2021 attack on his ex-girlfriend that was caught on video.

Stacy was sentenced to six months in prison and a year of probation by an Orange County judge after pleading guilty to two counts of criminal mischief. As part of his plea deal, the battery charges were dropped.

The football star was caught on camera beating his ex in front of their young son. In a police interview, he claimed it was all a set up.

“It’s just a case of just bitterness, man,” he said at the time. “That’s why she did this. The whole assault thing, she staged it. She set me up. The whole thing was staged. All she’s trying to do is get money out of me. She got a reaction out of me.”

He claims Kristin Evans cheated on him with his financial adviser while he was dealing with depression and anxiety.

“She knew I was trying to close this gap that’s between me and my son, and she’s just upset that she got caught, and she’s upset I’m not taking care of him like she expected. And now she took it this far. This is just a case of just girl is just bitter that I don’t want to be with her, and she’s just trying to destroy my whole reputation ’cause of this sh*t.”

Stacy played for the Rams and Jets in a three-year NFL career that spanned from 2013 to 2015 before going on to play for the Memphis Express in the XFL.
