Fox News terminated Tucker Carlson, its most popular prime-time host…effective immediately.
Just last week, the network agreed to pay $787.5 million in a defamation lawsuit, mostly because of Carlson’s show spreading misinformation following the 2020 election.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the company said in a statement Monday. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
Dominion sued Fox, accusing them of “intentionally and falsely” blaming Dominion for the 2020 loss of former President Donald Trump. Carlson repeatedly spread claims that the company’s machines rigged the election.
“Tucker Carlson was taken off the air because he was telling the truth and because he was popular,” Alex Jones in a video posted to social media. “Fox News is all about having controlled conservatives to manipulate and lead the narrative, but Tucker Carlson didn’t sell out to the system.”
Carlson has not addressed the news.
