Trump Booed at World Cup Final as Crowd Erupts!

Clips are circulating the internet showing President Donald Trump getting booed during the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium.

The president was shown on the stadium’s video screens shortly after Jennifer Hudson sang the national anthem at Sunday’s match between Spain and Argentina. Trump stood and applauded as loud boos rose from sections of the crowd.

But the louder boos came after Spain secured a 1-0 extra-time victory over the defending champions.

Trump walked onto the field alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino for the medal and trophy presentations, prompting louder boos throughout the East Rutherford, N.J., stadium. The noise eventually faded as the players received their medals.

Trump remained on the podium beside Spain’s celebrating squad before stepping away moments before captain Rodri raised the trophy. FIFA president Gianni Infantino was captured trying to remove Trump, but he refused.

The president’s place at the ceremony followed his unusual involvement in a disciplinary dispute earlier in the tournament.

Trump acknowledged contacting Infantino after American forward Folarin Balogun received a red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The penalty ordinarily carried an automatic one-game suspension.

“All I did was ask for a review,” Trump told reporters. “I thought it was two great athletes that crashed into each other and got entangled.”

FIFA later suspended the ban, clearing Balogun to play against Belgium. Trump celebrated the move as the correction of a “great injustice.”

The decision sparked criticism from European soccer officials, but it did little to change the United States’ fortunes as Belgium eliminated the host nation with a 4-1 win.
