‘The Ultimatum’s Killian Grondin and Ashley Wilson Are ‘Better Off as Friends’ After Split

Lyndon Abioye |

Killian Grondin is single again after Ashley Wilson ended their engagement, months after The Ultimatum star broke both legs in a backflip accident.

“I’m not engaged anymore. Ashley ended things with me,” Killian told Us Weekly. “I want to say seven or eight months after the show.”

Killian said he “thought I was still 20” when he attempted the backflip. The injury put him in a wheelchair for six months, while Ashley cared for him for about six and a half months.

Their relationship had already been strained after filming. Killian recalled that small moments at home could lead to arguments, and the couple sought individual and couples therapy. As his mobility returned, Killian said Ashley made plans to leave. “The next day she told me that she was moving out, so she packed within two days. I helped her pack and move into her new place. Then we didn’t speak for about three months or so.”

The former couple eventually reconnected and spent time together as friends, including going to church. Still, Killian said their history made a platonic relationship difficult.

“We decided that we needed space from each other,” he said. They are now back in contact, with Killian saying he wants to support Ashley after her mother’s death.

For now, he is staying out of the dating scene. “We’re better off as friends in the long run,” Killian said. “I’m not dating at all.”

You can watch the entire season now on Netflix.
