Former Def Jam boss Russell Simmons, who now lives in in Bali, was recently delivered a lawsuit on behalf of Drew Dixon, a former music executive who accused him of r-pe.
Dixon is suing Simmons of defamation for denying her sexual assault claims. Simmons said “Could someone want notoriety in the market where people thirst for fame” and “I’ve never been forceful in any of my relationships,” all of which were “consensual,” in a December interview.
He was served the papers at the Gdas Bali Health And Wellness Resort, owned by Simmons. Simmons owns the resort.
“I recognized him as the person named in the service papers as Russell Simmons,” the server, Daniel John Ayoub rsaid. “[He’s] a well-known celebrity and widely known in Bali, Indonesia as well as in the United States and other places.”
Simmons was sat with business associates when Ayoub approached him.
“I said ‘Excuse me, Mr. Simmons, sorry to interrupt your meeting.’ I then handed Simmons the service documents in an envelope and said, ‘This is for you,'” he said, adding that Simmons seemed shocked and that he called security.
