Frat Over Femicide? Roland Martin Dragged For “Sympathy” Tribute To Murderer Justin Fairfax… After Former Lt. Gov. Slaughters Wife In Front Of Kids! (DETAILS)
Media Take Out has been monitoring a firestorm of outrage on social media today after one of the most respected voices in Black media, Roland Martin, appeared to choose “fraternity bonds” over basic human decency.

The world was rocked on Thursday, April 16, 2026, when news broke that Justin Fairfax, the disgraced former Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, brutally murdered his wife, Dr. Cerina Fairfax, in their Annandale home before turning the gun on himself. The murder-suicide reportedly took place while the couple’s two teenage children were inside the house—with their son being the one to make the heart-wrenching 911 call.
The Post That Set The Internet On Fire
While the Black community mourned Dr. Cerina—a beloved dentist and community leader—Roland Martin took to Facebook, Instagram, and Threads to offer a “tribute” that many are calling deeply offensive.
In the post, Roland referred to Justin as his “brother” in both Alpha Phi Alpha and the Sigma Pi Phi (The Boulé) fraternity. He expressed “stunned” devastation for both Cerina and Justin, focusing heavily on how “devastated” Justin had been by the 2019 sexual assault allegations that derailed his political career.

“Justin was my #APhiA brother and in the same Sigma Pi Phi chapter,” Roland wrote. “I was personally aware of how devastated Justin was… his political career never recovered. Please be in prayer for Justin’s family.”
The Backlash: “Where They Do That At?”
The internet immediately dragged Roland for “humanizing” a cold-blooded murderer. Critics pointed out that while Justin was “devastated” by a ruined career, Cerina is dead because of his cowardice and violence.
- The Victim Blaming: Fans were furious that Roland brought up Justin’s sexual assault allegations as a “reason” for his mental state, seemingly asking for sympathy for a man who had just orphaned his own children.
- The “Frat” Problem: “Is the frat bond so deep that you’re sending condolences to a wife-killer?” one viral comment asked. “Cerina was the victim. Justin was the villain. Period.”
Roland Forced To Delete The Post
By Friday night, the heat became too much for the Unfiltered host. Roland officially deleted the tribute, but not before doubling down. He claimed he only removed it because the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity leadership requested he remove their images and names to adhere to their social media policy.

He didn’t apologize for the sentiment, however, stating: “I never want to delete social posts, even when people disagree. Discourse is valuable.” He then dedicated a segment of his show to “Black Male Mental Health,” a move many saw as a way to excuse the murder-suicide by labeling it a “mental health crisis” rather than a domestic violence tragedy.
The “Disgraceful” Downward Spiral
Justin Fairfax’s fall from grace is now complete. Once a rising Democratic star, he ended his life as a murderer who had reportedly spiraled into alcoholism and isolation. According to court records, he was facing a 30-day deadline to move out of the family home after a “messy” divorce proceeding.
Is Roland Martin right to highlight the “mental health” of the killer, or is he completely out of pocket for asking for prayers for a man who slaughtered an “angel”? Let us know in the comments!
