Love & Marriage: Huntsville OG Melody SHari is opening up about her experience on the show, and even though her fans are desperate for her to return to the series, she says there’s no way she’s ever going back.
“Whenever you walk away from the lion’s den, why would you go back where the lions are?” she told Ebony Magazine.
“To protect my own emotional health, my own mental health, I don’t allow myself to engage or be a part of a trauma that I’m still healing from,” she continued. “I do not watch [the series]. That is still very much a triggering piece for me because of a lot of what I went through on that show.”
Melody announced her exit from the show back in January after nine seasons. Fans initially sympathized with her after seeing her ex-husband, Martell Holt, cheat on her and even get another woman pregnant all while OWN TV’s cameras captured the aftermath.
“A lot of times, with the decisions I’ve made, I didn’t know what the next step looked like. I didn’t know what the future would hold or what it would yield,” she said of her shock exit. “But in obedience, I understood the importance of trusting my own intuition and spiritual being. I knew that God wasn’t gonna fail me. Exiting [from Love & Marriage: Huntsville] has proven once again, like it did when I left my 13-year marriage, that when God says go, you go.”
