San Antonio’s mayor says Kanye West should not perform at the city’s Alamodome on the Fourth of July.
Over the weekend, Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones said that she supports canceling the rapper’s planned concert at the city-funded venue, citing Ye’s history of antisemitic remarks and actions. San Antonio “should not host someone with a record of hate speech and antisemitic comments in a city-funded facility like our Alamodome,” Jones wrote on social media, “not ever, and certainly not on July 4th, our Nation’s 250th birthday.”
She added that standing up to antisemitism is “exactly what it takes to achieve a more perfect union.”
The Alamodome stop is part of Ye’s tour for his album Bully. The venue can hold more than 70,000 fans.
Ye has faced years of backlash over antisemitic conduct, including his 2022 social media post saying, “I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” He apologized in 2023, later recanted that apology in 2025, then took out a Wall Street Journal ad in January expressing regret and linking his behavior to untreated bipolar disorder.
The San Antonio dispute follows several canceled European shows. Officials in Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and France have moved against recent performances, while the British government barred him from entering the country for concerts.
Ye is also scheduled for shows in Tampa, where Sen. Rick Scott urged officials to reconsider, calling the booking “troubling.”
