Hurricane Chris says he and a group of local investors are ready to take over 50 Cent’s Shreveport riverfront opportunity if the mogul decides to walk away.
The “A Bay Bay” rapper, whose real name is Chris Dooley, made the offer in a lengthy Facebook post after a vague message from 50 Cent left residents and city officials questioning whether his plans for the Louisiana city were still moving forward.
“But if you truly decide the riverfront deal isn’t worth pursuing anymore, then have another proposal,” Hurricane Chris wrote. “Me and a group of people are ready to accept that exact same opportunity under the exact same terms.”
He then said his group would be willing to continue bringing events, jobs and business activity to the area.
“We’ll gladly step up and continue creating events, opportunities, and economic activity for the city,” he wrote.
Before presenting himself as an alternative, the artist urged 50 Cent to keep going if his goal remained helping the community.
“If you’re doing this for the people, then keep going,” he continued. “Don’t let politics or a few individuals stop something that the community has embraced.”
Hurricane Chris said local residents had attended events, spent money and supported businesses tied to 50 Cent’s arrival. He also insisted his proposal was not personal.
“This isn’t about being against 50,” he added. “This is about making sure every person or group willing to invest in Shreveport has access to the same opportunities.”
His post included an image with the word “scam” written over a screenshot of 50 Cent’s message and used Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” as its soundtrack.
