Geechi Gotti will remain behind bars after the battle rapper pleaded guilty in an Ohio case involving thousands of prescription pills.
The rapper, born Marcus Keith Fantroy, was sentenced to 24 months in custody after admitting to aggravated drug possession and failure to comply with a police order on August 13.
The sentence consists of two consecutive 12-month terms. Fantroy had already served roughly six and a half months, meaning he could have about 17 to 18 months remaining, depending in part on good behavior.
His legal woes kicked off with a February 5 traffic stop on Interstate 75 in West Chester. Authorities said Fantroy was traveling with three other California men when police stopped their vehicle.
Investigators said the group tried to flee before officers apprehended them nearby.
During a court hearing, Detective Kevin Burger said officers discovered nearly 3,000 prescription pills inside the vehicle, including oxycodone, morphine and Vicodin.
“There was a large amount of pharmaceuticals in the car,” Burger testified.
Authorities alleged the drugs were connected to a Medicine Shoppe pharmacy in Bellevue, Ohio. Burger estimated their retail value exceeded $10,000, with a potentially much higher street value.
As part of Fantroy’s plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed breaking-and-entering, vandalism and theft charges tied to a separate alleged pharmacy incident.
