Former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was arrested Dec. 10 following allegations of domestic violence tied to a confrontation with a university staffer with whom police say he had a long-term intimate relationship.
At a complaint authorization hearing on Dec. 12, Pittsfield Township police Detective Jessica Welker testified that Moore admitted after his arrest that he had been in an “intimate relationship for approximately two years” with the staffer.
Police were dispatched to the woman’s apartment after her attorney, Heidi Sharp, called emergency services and reported that “Moore was inside of [her client’s] home, attacking her,” Welker said.
Sharp also told emergency dispatch that “Moore has been stalking [her client] for months,” and later told officers that Moore had “a long history of domestic violence” and was “very dangerous,” according to Welker’s testimony.
UPDATE: In the spotlight for more than just football Sherrone Moore and his wife Kelli were seen together publicly, a strong show of unity.

The staffer told responding officers that Moore arrived unannounced, entered her apartment without permission and “barged” inside. Welker testified that Moore allegedly grabbed two knives from a drawer, pointed them at the woman and said, “You ruined my life. You ruined my life.”
According to testimony, Moore later pointed the knives at his own neck and said he was going to kill himself and that she was “going to watch.” Police believe Moore fled the apartment and later sent the staffer a text message stating, “I hate you. My blood is on your hands.”
Moore denied physically assaulting the woman or threatening her with weapons, Welker said.
He was arraigned on one felony count of third degree home invasion and misdemeanor counts of stalking and breaking and entering. A judge ordered Moore to have no contact with the alleged victim and to wear a GPS tether.
He is due back in court Jan. 22, 2026.
