Ebro Darden believes public feuds with Drake and DJ Akademiks can directly affect how far his words are broadcast.
During a recent episode of The Ebro Show, the longtime radio host claimed “the algorithm” seems to work against people who clash with certain high-profile figures.
“I’m letting y’all know,” Ebro said. “Anybody that got beef with Akademiks, Drake, or anyone else, can watch how the algorithm moves against them. Pay attention to it. It’s consistent.”
According to Ebro, this has affected his ability to book guests since leaving Hot 97. He said artists and their teams now want more information before agreeing to appear on his shows.

“Now things are tougher,” Ebro explained. “We don’t even have the cosign of the heritage logo. We’re not traditional media anymore. We’re just people on YouTube.” He added, “Somebody I’ve known for 30 years … I was talking to them about getting an artist on the show, and they were like, ‘Yeah, send me some details about the show.’ Now we gotta send out a press kit.”
Ebro has publicly feuded with both Drake and Akademiks in recent years. After Hot 97 canceled Ebro in the Morning, Drake commented with an axe emoji on an Instagram post about the news. Ebro later claimed Drake sent him a direct message that read, “Die slower p—y.”
Akademiks also criticized Ebro following the show’s cancellation, suggesting poor ratings were to blame.
