Dr. Heavenly Kimes Says God “Put It on My Heart” to Run for Congress

Dr. Heavenly Kimes is stepping into politics with conviction. As her campaign for the United States House of Representatives gains momentum, the Married to Medicine star is opening up about why she feels called to run.

The Bravo personality, who appeared on Married to Medicine, is seeking the Democratic nomination to represent Georgia’s 13th Congressional District in the May 2026 primary.

“I think it was needed,” Heavenly said in a recent interview with The Daily Dish. “A lot of people asked me to run, and I prayed about it. God put it on my heart, and I think I can be a voice for the people.”

Heavenly believes her reality TV background works in her favor. “All publicity is good publicity,” she said. “My patients watch the show, and they love me because I tell the truth and I’m real.”

Her political motivation became personal after her son Damon Kimes Jr.’s 2023 arrest, which she has said opened her eyes to issues around policing. “Our son came home safely, but so many boys do not,” she shared during a campaign moment on the show.

Heavenly has tapped close friend and castmate Quad Webb as her campaign manager. “We didn’t come to play, we came to win,” Heavenly said. “I am here for education, healthcare, and police reform.”
