Sean “Diddy” Combs is asking a federal judge to make one of his accusers and her lawyers pay his legal bills, calling their amended lawsuit frivolous.
Diddy filed a request for sanctions against Grace O’Marcaigh and her attorneys, arguing they pressed ahead with their complaint even after a judge found that California courts lacked personal jurisdiction over him.
His legal team says O’Marcaigh’s revised filing failed to solve the problem. Instead, they argue, it repackaged the same jurisdictional claims the court had already rejected, leaving the disgraced music mogul to spend more money responding to what they described as a “meritless case.”
Diddy is seeking attorneys’ fees and costs, though the amount requested is not specified in the documents provided.
O’Marcaigh’s lawyers dispute his account. In the correspondence attached to the filing, they said they added allegations intended to connect Diddy to California by chartering the yacht at the center of the lawsuit. They also noted that the judge permitted them to amend the complaint and rejected the suggestion that their actions warranted punishment.
The lawsuit stems from an alleged 2022 incident aboard a yacht in the Caribbean. O’Marcaigh, who was working as a steward on the vessel, sued Diddy and his son, Christian “King” Combs.
She alleges Christian sexually assaulted her and claims Sean is civilly responsible for what allegedly occurred.
Diddy has denied the accusations.
