Candiace Dillard Bassett Blames Cast AND Production for ‘RHOP’ Exit!

Candiace Dillard Bassett says she left The Real Housewives of Potomac after feeling she had to battle both her castmates and the production team while undergoing IVF.

During a July appearance on the Pop Syllabus podcast, the Bravo alum said the show stopped feeling worthwhile around season 7, when Gizelle Bryant accused Candiace’s husband, Chris Bassett, of making her uncomfortable in a hotel room.

“I think for me, I realized that it was not worth it,” Candiace said, adding that she watched the situation take a painful toll on Chris.

“It became, it was more so about me looking at him and watching the breakdown in his eyes and the fact that no one was really willing to do anything to rectify or correct it,” she said.

Candiace, 39, also felt she had lost support behind the scenes.

“I started to feel like I’m fighting with the girls, but now I’m also fighting with production,” she explained. “I cannot have this kind of discourse of both sides of this camera.”

She said disagreements with castmates were part of the job, but conflict with the people she expected to protect her became harder to accept.

“It started to feel like I was not being supported or believed,” she said.

Candiace announced her departure in March 2024 after six seasons. Months later, she welcomed her son in October.
