Britney Spears’ Kids Reportedly Pushed Her to Go to Rehab

Britney Spears has been getting closer to her sons, and according to a new report, they are the main reason she decided to seek treatment following her recent DUI arrest.

A source told PEOPLE that Spears’ sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, played an important role in helping the singer agree to enter a treatment facility.

“She was very upset and shaken after her arrest,” the source shared. “And she’s terrified of going to jail. It’s taken weeks for her to realize that going to rehab is the best option.”

Spears was arrested March 4 in Ventura, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. On April 12, her representative confirmed that she had checked herself into a treatment center.

According to the source, those closest to Spears had been encouraging her to get help in the weeks after the arrest.

“Her team has pushed for treatment since her arrest,” the insider says. “People around her do care a lot and are constantly trying to support her, but it can be difficult.”

The source says Spears’ sons were especially direct with their mother.

“Her sons were a big part of getting her to rehab,” the insider told the outlet. “They’ve been clear with her. They just want her to be healthy.”

Spears shares Sean Preston and Jayden with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

After her arrest, a representative for Spears said she planned to “take the right steps” and that her family would help create “an overdue needed plan” for her future well-being.
