Boosie Badazz is facing fresh legal trouble after a night out in Houston went left.
The rapper has been charged with aggravated assault after authorities accused him of hitting a nightclub security guard in the head with a glass hookah at Dome nightclub on May 24.
Edward Iglehart, a bouncer, told police he was trying to clear the club at closing time and that the trouble began when Boosie’s niece allegedly tried to use the bathroom after the venue had closed. Iglehart refused, and police said she “struck him in the face.” As Iglehart escorted her out, police said he stopped to pick up her belongings and that is, allegedly, when Boosie attacked him.
“He suddenly felt an object strike the top of his head, causing immediate pain and injury,” an officer testified in the documents. “Mr. Iglehart stated that when he turned, he observed blood running down his face and observed the defendant holding a broken glass hookah base in his hand.”
Police said Iglehart went to the hospital and needed eight stitches. The officer also wrote that “a glass hookah base in the manner of this use can cause serious bodily injury or death.”
Boosie appeared at an initial court hearing on Monday and was granted release on $85,000 bond. He is due back in court in September.
After news of the charge surfaced, Boosie posted a video response on social media and denied the allegation.
“It’s what you go through as an entertainer. The facts of the case will come out,” he said, calling the case “basically a money grab.” “I’m alright though. Life be lifing, bro,” he added.
Boosie is still under supervised release from a separate federal gun possession case. In January, he pleaded guilty and avoided prison time, but received three years of supervision.
