Beyonce launched her new hair care line, Cecred yesterday – to a whole bunch of fanfare. As Media Take Out reported, millions of Black women all over the world rushed to the internet to buy Beyonce’s new ethnic hair care line.
But Beyonce wants to make sure that everyone knows that the hair care products are NOT JUST for Black women. According to the Cecred website, Beyonce’s hair care products work on all types of hair.
Yesterday Beyonce revealed the CEO of her new hair care line – a woman named Grace Ray.
Many of Beyonce’s fans were taken aback – that in the world of hair care – which has hundreds of qualified Black women executives, Beyonce didn’t chose a Black female CEO.
Don;t get us wrong, Grace is an excellent candidate – she was the CEO of Milani and Living Proof and has tons of years in the beauty industry.
But how often do positions with such a direct impact on Black beauty come available? And many on Twitter are upset that now that one exists, and will take advantage of Black consumers – it won’t be lead by a Black woman.
Grace went to the media yesterday, as the leader of the brand, and answered questions about the Brad’s vision.
Cécred is launching with a range called The Foundation collection, which includes shampoos and conditioners, a hydrating mask, a hair oil and a two-step treatment ritual. Prices range from $20 to $52, and they launch on the brand’s website, cecred.com, Tuesday.
“We’re focused on visible hair health and creating a healthy foundation with this collection,” Ray said. “We started with products that clarify hair and scalp, a nourishing shampoo, and then some powerful treatments that are going to be the hero products.”
Those include a reconstructing treatment mask, in addition to a fermented rice water treatment “that doesn’t exist right now on the market,” Ray said. The latter is a fermented rice protein powder, combined with antioxidants, green tea and biotin. “All you have to do is pour it in water for an instant treatment.
“We see three times reduction in breakage and better length retention, because there’s no shedding. This category doesn’t exist yet,” Ray continued.
