50 Cent mocked Rick Ross for reportedly selling about 2,000 copies of his new album, placing the rapper in the same low-sales conversation that recently followed Lizzo.
“I just saw your record sales! LOL 2,000 WTF,” 50 wrote on Instagram Tuesday alongside a photo of himself grinning.
Ross and his label have not confirmed the first-week total for Set In Stone. The album reportedly earned about 1.38 million Spotify streams on its first day, which would equate to an estimated 1,220 album units from Spotify alone. Official numbers also include streams from other services, downloads, and physical purchases.
The jab may have been 50’s response to Ross and comedian Deon Cole recently joking about his former girlfriend, who is also the mother of his son Sire, during an interview promoting Set In Stone.
Ross and 50 have exchanged personal insults for years.
The reported performance comes after Lizzo’s album Bitch sold 2,649 units during its opening week and failed to enter the Billboard 200. The Grammy winner later described the disappointing reception as “soul-crushing.”
