Trolls Bash Gabby Sidibe’s Kids, She Responds ‘I Didn’t Have Kids for the Aesthetic’

Keep It Cute! Gabourey Sidibe Slams “Hair Police” Critics Of Her Twins… “I Didn’t Have Kids For The Aesthetic!”

Gabourey Sidibe is not the one, the two, or the three to play with when it comes to her children! The Precious and Empire star took to Instagram Threads this week to deliver a royal “shut down” to critics who had far too much to say about her 23-month-old twins’ hairstyles.

Gabby, 42, shares her adorable toddlers, Cooper and Maya, with husband Brandon Frankel. While the couple usually fills our timelines with heartwarming family content, Gabby made it clear that her page is not a space for “mommshaming” or unsolicited beauty tips for toddlers.

“I’m Blocking You”: The Ultimate Warning

In a post that quickly went viral across the “timeline,” Gabby didn’t mince words. She revealed that she is officially hitting the block button on anyone brave (or bored) enough to tell her how to style her children’s hair.

“If you comment, telling me to do my toddlers’ hair, I’m blocking you,” she wrote with signature bluntness. “Their hair is always brushed, but they are active toddlers who play hard and aggressively launch into ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ during lunch.”

Gabby explained the reality of “toddler life,” noting that with ketchup and eggs constantly flying during mealtime, she and Brandon often find themselves doing the twins’ hair multiple times a day.

Function Over Fashion

The actress, who is currently receiving rave reviews for her work on Give Me Back My Daughter, pointed out the ridiculous expectations placed on Black mothers to have their children looking “camera-ready” at every second of the day.

  • The Reality Check: Gabby noted that while her daughter’s hair is braided weekly, she isn’t going to stop her life to re-braid it the second it gets “fuzzy.”
  • The “Aesthetic” Trap: “I didn’t have kids for the aesthetic,” Gabby clapped back. “Trying to impress the timeline with constantly manicured children isn’t on my list of chores.”

A Little Humor Amidst The Heat

True to form, Gabby couldn’t leave the post without a little bit of her trademark wit. To lighten the mood after her stern warning, she jokingly attached a photo of her cat, Aaron.

“Aaron will however be debuting the fresh box braids he got for his birthday trip to Punta Cana,” she joked, proving that while she’s a protective “Mama Bear,” she’s still the funniest woman in Hollywood.

The “Boss Lady” Balance

This isn’t the first time Gabby has shown the “real” side of parenting. Back in February, she posted hilarious photos of the twins wearing her high-end wigs, joking that she was walking around bald just so her kids could look stylish.

Her husband, Brandon, remains her biggest cheerleader, recently posting about his pride in watching her juggle being a “boss lady” director on set while simultaneously being the “best mom” to their two little ones. It’s clear this family is focused on love, not “likes.”

Is Gabby right to set these hard boundaries with the public, or is “critique” just part of being a celebrity parent? Let us know in the comments!
