Takeoff M*rder Suspect Won’t Face Jury Until 2027

The murder trial of the man accused of killing Migos rapper Takeoff has been postponed until 2027, more than four years after the musician was fatally shot in Houston.

Patrick Xavier Clark, who has pleaded not guilty to murder, is now scheduled to face a jury on April 15, 2027, according to Harris County court records. Jury selection was originally scheduled to begin Nov. 5.

Clark’s attorney, Kent Schaffer, told XXL that scheduling issues and newly received evidence led to the postponement.

“Both sides had numerous trial conflicts, and the state recently turned over a large amount of evidence that had not been seen by Mr. Clark’s previous counsel,” Schaffer explained.

“While there is nothing harmful in that evidence, we still need time to review it. We still fully expect to prevail.”

Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was 28 when he was killed outside 810 Billiards & Bowling in downtown Houston on Nov. 1, 2022.

Police reported that gunfire erupted following an argument connected to a dice game. The rapper was not involved in the dispute and investigators say he was an innocent bystander.

Clark, a Houston DJ, was arrested one month later.

His defense team underwent changes in March when Schaffer, Dan Cogdell and Anthony Osso joined the case. In September, Clark’s attorneys requested independent testing of ballistic evidence collected by Houston police.

Prosecutors allege surveillance footage connects Clark to the shooting. His attorneys deny he fired the fatal shot.

Clark faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
