Paul Pierce is asking a judge to reject his ex-wife’s request for $50,000 in additional legal and accounting fees, claiming he’s “drowning financially” after losing his lucrative Fox Sports paycheck.
The former NBA champion says he can no longer afford the mounting divorce-related expenses, according to court documents.
Paul claims Fox Sports terminated his contract, leaving him without the $119,000 in average monthly income he previously received from the network.
His last paycheck arrived in August, and he reportedly earned just $23,000 from other business interests last month, per TMZ.
Despite earning an estimated $200 million throughout his NBA career, Paul says he currently has $300,000 in cash and roughly $3 million in property. He also reports paying approximately $28,000 monthly in child support and $20,000 in spousal support.
Pail’s lifestyle expenses reportedly total another $48,000 per month, including $7,000 for restaurants, $5,000 for groceries and $3,200 for utilities.
Princess is seeking $40,000 in attorney fees and $10,000 for a forensic accountant, alleging Paul has not been forthcoming about his financial records, and the former athlete’s lawyer argues the additional costs would cause “great difficulty” given his reduced income.
Paul was previously ordered to pay $8,508 in temporary monthly child support for their son, King, along with $100,000 in legal fees.
