Lauren built her career in television and worked as an entertainment reporter and news anchor in Los Angeles, appearing on shows including Good Day L.A., Extra and The View. In 1999, she earned an Emmy nomination for her work on UPN News 13. She later became known as the original host of So You Think You Can Dance before stepping away to focus on family.

More recently, she has launched the aerial film and production company Black Ops Aviation, making her one of the first female-owned aerial movie companies in the United States. She also published her first children’s book, The Fly Who Flew to Space, in 2024.
