Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr.’s bid to keep the public out of the courtroom has been denied as the 15-year-old faces seven felony charges in an ongoing sexual assault case.
A Fulton County judge rejected the request Friday, September 18, ruling that KJ had not met the high legal threshold for completely closed proceedings, according to court documents Page Six reported.
Judge Melynee Leftridge ordered KJ’s juvenile records to remain under seal and gave the court authority to restrict media photography and recording when needed to protect his privacy.
The judge, however, did not grant KJ’s request to prevent prosecutors from using certain information from his juvenile record when discussing bond.
The latest ruling arrived as prosecutors also sought court approval for forensic interviews with “minor children” connected to the case.
KJ, the son of Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, was granted a $200,000 bond on September 11 following his indictment on charges related to an alleged assault involving a female classmate.
His release comes with strict rules. He must stay at his mother’s home under GPS monitoring, attend school virtually, and avoid contact with minors, including the alleged victim.
KJ must also surrender his passport and cannot use a cellphone or social media. His attorney has maintained his innocence. KJ has denied the allegations and has not been convicted. His mother is standing by his side.
