Chris Brown won’t be heading to jail following his guilty plea in connection with a violent altercation at a London nightclub.

The Grammy-winning singer received an eight-month suspended sentence after admitting to affray following a February 2023 incident at Tape London involving music producer Abraham Diaw.

Before sentencing, Judge Tony Baumgartner made it clear that Brown’s celebrity status would not influence the court’s decision.

“Your fame, commercial success and professional standing do not entitle you to special treatment. The law applies equally to everyone,” the judge told Brown.

LONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 11: R&B singer Chris Brown arrives at Southwark Crown Court on July 11, 2025 in London, England. The incident reportedly began when Brown struck Diaw twice in the head with a tequila bottle while his associate, rapper Omololu Akinlolu, also known as HoodyBaby, punched the producer. Prosecutors said the assault continued as Diaw attempted to escape through the crowded nightclub. He was later treated at a hospital for injuries to his head and knees.

Prosecutor Claire Campbell previously described the incident as a “vicious and unprovoked attack.”

Brown pleaded guilty in July at Southwark Crown Court. Akinlolu also pleaded guilty and received a four-month sentence, suspended for 12 months.

Brown was arrested in May 2025 after returning to Britain for a scheduled concert in Manchester.

Additional charges against the singer, including assault, grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, were dropped.
