Child Star Emmanuel Lewis From 1980s Show WEBSTER Is Asked If He’s BROKE . . . He Responds

Media Take Out Staff |

Emmanuel Lewis was one of the most popular child stars in the 1980s – he starred in the hit series Webster, about a Black child adopted by two White parents.

Well Media Take Out caught up with Emmanuel, and he’s talking openly about his finances.

For the past 30 years, Emmanuel – who is now 51 years old – has been virtually out of showbiz. Fans of the former child star have been wondering what he’s been up to.

Well Emmanuel recently popped up on Twitter, and responded to a question from a concerned fan who asked, “Are you broke?”

Emmanuel claims that he managed his money….very well and still receives residual checks. The 51 year old told fans that he has “never had a mortgage” and that he owns a brand new luxury car outright. The former actor also claims that he typically doesn’t wear jewelry but he does have a luxury watch – which he refused to show on camera, for fear of being targeted for a robbery.

He also claims that the reason for his continued financial success is because of his belief in himself, and his relationship with God, Media Take Out learned. Emmanuel is a proud and practicing Christian.

Listen to his response:

Emmanuel’s height has only changed by 6 inches (15 cm) since his childhood appearances in Webster, making him relatively short. He has no known condition that would explain his height.

For his role on the television series Webster, Lewis was nominated for four Young Artist Awards. In 1984, he was nominated for Best Young Actor in a Comedy Series for Webster and lost to Rick Schroder of Silver Spoons. In 1985, he was nominated for the same award, but it went to Billy Jayne of It’s Not Easy. In 1986, he was nominated for Best Young Actor Starring in a Television Series, but was bested by Marc Price who won for his performance in Family Ties. In 1987, he was nominated for Exceptional Performance by a Young Actor Starring in a Television Comedy or Drama Series, which Kirk Cameron of Growing Pains won.
