Griner was ejected late in the game after a physical play involving Clark, who appeared to sell the contact in a bid to draw a foul. The Fever would go on to edge out the Dream in a tight 81–76 win.
Footage of Griner venting after the play sparked wild speculation online, with fans claiming she hurled a racial insult Clark’s way.
“I know it wasn’t that because I wouldn’t use that type of language,” she said when asked directly if she used the slur in question. Now, Griner admits emotions were running high but categorically denies making such a heinous comment.
