Atlanta performer Sky Whatley allegedly reached down from a stage and struck a woman in the face as she danced during a show in Tucker, Ga., according to the woman and video from the performance.
Shamika Boyd told 11Alive she was at the Londzell Performing Arts Theatre to support her daughter, Jada Boyd, who was performing a DJ set, when the encounter happened.
“When he hit me, I was devastated because I’m thinking, ‘Why did he hit me? He had no reason to hit me,’” Boyd told the news outlet.

The slap could be heard over the concert music.

Video from the event appears to show Whatley reaching toward Boyd and making contact with her. Others at the venue also identified Whatley as the performer involved. Boyd said she had been dancing and enjoying the show before the incident.
“That’s the part that I don’t understand when I did nothing to him,” she explained. “He was in no harm, no threat or anything.”
Boyd then claimed that Whatley made an obscene gesture toward her and cursed at her.

Her daughter said she did not realize what had happened until afterward.
“I wouldn’t let any mom go through something like that, especially for them just supporting their kid,” Jada added.
Attorney Shannin Render, who represents Boyd, said they intend to pursue legal action over the encounter and related expenses.
