Former NFL player Antonio Brown has been extradited to the United States to face a charge of second-degree attempted murder with a firearm in connection with a May shooting in Miami.
The U.S. Marshals Service took Brown into custody in Dubai and transported him to Essex County Correctional Facility in New Jersey on Thursday, November 6, according to police.
He will be transferred to Miami to face trial.
The Miami Police Department confirmed that Brown was identified as the alleged shooter after an investigation conducted with assistance from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals. Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest in June, following a May 17 incident that reportedly occurred after a celebrity boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross.
Footage posted online appeared to show Brown in an altercation before running toward a group of people while holding an object. A sound resembling gunfire could then be heard. Witnesses on the scene reacted, with one shouting that Brown had a gun. Brown was detained but released the same night because police could not locate a victim.

Afterward, Brown spoke about the incident on a Kick livestream with Adin Ross, claiming he was attacked by several people and suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). On social media, Brown stated that he was not arrested and that police released him after hearing his version of events.
Brown’s legal troubles date back several years. In 2019, he was sued for sexual assault by former trainer Britney Taylor, who accused him of multiple assaults between 2017 and 2018. Brown denied the claims and counter-sued before reaching a settlement in 2021.

The NFL suspended Brown for eight games in 2020 for violating its personal conduct policy after an altercation with a moving truck driver. He later pleaded no contest to charges including burglary with assault and served two years of probation. In 2023, he was briefly arrested for failing to pay child support but was released after posting bond.
Brown, who played nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, also spent time with the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He won a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers in 2021 before leaving the league.
