Brad Pitt is drinking alcohol again after seven years of sobriety, but the actor says he now knows exactly where his limits are.
“I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,” Pitt, 62, told Esquire, adding that he returned to drinking “in a more restrained manner.”
The F1 star admitted there have already been moments when he realized he needed to pull back.
“I got overconfident a couple times, went, ‘Yep, nope, not good for me.’ Not in big quantities,” he explained. “I can have a few [glasses of wine]. But I can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it.”

Pitt previously spoke openly about quitting alcohol following his 2016 split from Angelina Jolie and spending time in an Alcoholics Anonymous recovery group.
Pitt has been going through a hard time recently. Four of the six children he shares with Jolie have taken legal steps to remove “Pitt” from their surnames. Shiloh’s name change to Shiloh Jolie was approved in 2024. Maddox, Zahara and Vivienne have since filed their own petitions, which remain pending.
Maddox has also professionally used Maddox Jolie, while Zahara has publicly gone by Zahara Marley Jolie.
“I can have a few,” he added of his drinking. “But I can’t have a lot.”
