The recording was turned over to Duggar’s attorneys as part of new evidence disclosed in Florida’s Bay County Circuit Court on Oct. 22, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
Its contents remain unknown, including who participated in the conversation and what was discussed.
In a separate filing that same day, prosecutors added a woman affiliated with an Arkansas children’s safety organization to their witness list.
Duggar, 31, was arrested in March after a girl accused him of sexually assaulting her during a 2020 family vacation in Florida.
The alleged victim, now 14, told investigators that Duggar repeatedly touched her inappropriately when she was 9 years old. According to an affidavit, the girl alleged the incidents happened “several times” and claimed Duggar later “apologized for his actions.”
The former 19 Kids and Counting star faces charges involving alleged sexual misconduct with a child younger than 12.
His wife, Kendra Duggar, was also arrested in March on separate child endangerment and false imprisonment charges in Arkansas. Joseph subsequently faced the same additional charges.
In June, a judge granted Joseph supervised visitation with his children.
He is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 10.
