Yung Miami is calling out LisaRaye McCoy for criticizing her song “Spend That,” challenging how the actress could disapprove of the track after playing a stripper in The Players Club.
During an appearance on The Morning Hustle, the rapper addressed McCoy’s negative reaction to the song after revealing she drew inspiration from the actress’s iconic role as Diamond in the 1998 film.
“Girl, you was Diamond in The Players Club. What are we talking about?” Miami said.
The rapper explained that she wanted to recreate a dressing room scene from the movie for her “Spend That” music video.
“I just wanted to put like a little spice up the video,” she said.
However, Miami took issue with McCoy criticizing the song’s content while having portrayed a character in a film centered on exotic dancers.
Asked whether she regretted paying homage to the movie following McCoy’s remarks, Miami stood by her creative decision.
When asked whether the actress did a good job playing Diamond, she replied, “She did good.”
Meanwhile, Yung Miami’s ex, Sean “Diddy” Combs made headlines this week after being hospitalized after sustaining a head injury. While the Bureau of Prisons says the injury was sustained from a bunk bed, other sources claim the rapper got into an altercation with infamous Jamaican drug lord, Christopher Michael Coke aka “Dudus.”
