Tyler Perry has revealed that he is packing his bags and moving to Puerto Rico.

The filmmaker revealed during a recent appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that he plans to move to the island at the start of the new year and pull back from his demanding work schedule.

“Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I’m pulling back a whole lot,” Perry said when asked whether he ever plans to “chill out.”

Perry, 57, says he is making the move for his family.

“Getting older [inspired this],” he said. “It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in.”

Perry shares his 11-year-old son, Aman, with former partner Gelila Bekele, whom he dated from 2009 to 2020.

He also revealed that marriage is not part of his future plans.

“At this age, no, that’s not a good idea for me,” Perry shared. “So no, won’t be any marriage for me.”

The change comes as Perry promotes Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third film in his franchise, which arrived on Netflix September 9.

Perry has also been facing two lawsuits involving sexual misconduct allegations. He has strongly denied the claims.
