Tristan Thompson Moves to Protect Brother After Family Loss!

Lyndon Abioye |

Tristan Thompson is seeking expanded legal authority to care for his brother, Amari Thompson.

The athlete has filed a motion requesting a conservatorship, which would give him greater control over Amari’s medical, educational, and personal decisions. Thompson previously held a guardianship role.

In the filing, Thompson described the level of care required and said Amari “suffers from an intellectual disability and developmental delay and is unable to take care of his personal needs,” noting he depends on family support and “is unable to live independently.”

Amari has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe condition that involves frequent seizures and requires constant attention. After their mother’s death in 2023, Thompson assumed responsibility for his brother’s care.

Khloé Kardashian has also played a role in supporting Amari. “We just want to provide Amari with the best, most beautiful life that we know how,” she said, adding, “And he deserves that.”

She also spoke about the challenges of travel tied to Thompson’s career. “Amari has a handful of seizures a day,” she said, explaining why he stays in Los Angeles.

According to the filing, Amari “does not wish to contest the establishment of a conservatorship,” as Thompson continues working to ensure consistent care.
