Tiffany Haddish is celebrating more than three years without alcohol, saying sobriety left her with less pain and a clearer view of what she wants next.
On Saturday, the 46-year-old actress and comedian explained on X that her decision to stop drinking came after spending time in court and noticing how often alcohol surfaced in troubling cases.
“Sitting in court really opened my eyes,” Haddish wrote. “Case after case — domestic violence, child abuse, theft, fighting, Grape — alcohol kept showing up somewhere in the story.”
She said the pattern made her ask herself “What would happen if I just never drank again?”
“So I stopped,” she added.
Haddish has previously faced two alcohol-related driving arrests, one in Georgia in January 2022 and another in California in November 2023. She has spoken publicly in the years since about walking away from drinking.
Hey, I stopped drinking altogether when I realized how much bad stuff I was seeing connected to alcohol. Sitting in court really opened my eyes. Case after case — domestic violence, child abuse, theft, fighting, Grape— alcohol kept showing up somewhere in the story.

And I…
The comedian says the change has been worth it.
“Over three years later, LIFE IS AWESOME,” Haddish wrote, adding, “No more toxic relationships,” before crediting sobriety with helping her see certain situations differently.
“I can only speak for me, but giving up alcohol gave me clarity,” she wrote, later adding, “I can see my dreams clearer than ever,” she said. “Now I actually believe I’m going to make every damn one of them come true.”
