YouTuber Jack Doherty’s arrest is still making headlines after it was revealed that his girlfriend told police she grabbed a gun to protect herself after he allegedly pushed her down and briefly put his hands around her neck during a confrontation in Florida.
The incident went down on Friday afternoon inside a home, where the cops report that the couple had been arguing. According to the affidavit, the woman told officers Doherty got close to her face during the dispute, prompting her to use her arm to create space between them.
She then went upstairs to gather her belongings and leave, but told police the argument followed her.
The woman alleged Doherty became angry as she tried to exit and “pushed her to the ground and used his hands around her neck to briefly pin her to the ground.”
She told investigators she could still breathe and that she grabbed a firearm from a bedside table and warned Doherty she would shoot if he came near her again.
Police were called to the home over a reported domestic disturbance and later arrested Doherty on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
Sources close to Doherty have claimed he acted in self-defense.
Doherty has gone viral several times, including his failed golfing prank which saw him banned from one of the most prestigious events in the sport.
