Stefon Diggs Cut by Patriots Following Super Bowl Run!

Stefon Diggs is set to become a free agent after the New England Patriots decided to move on from the veteran wide receiver.

According to reports, the team informed Stefon that he will be released at the start of the new NFL year on March 11. The decision ends his tenure with the franchise after just one season.

Stefon appeared to acknowledge the news with a message shared on Instagram. “We family forever,” he wrote.

The 32-year-old athlete played a major role in New England’s 2025 campaign. He finished the season as the team’s leading receiver with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. The Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl that season, with Stefon serving as the offense’s top target.

His departure leaves a significant opening in the team’s receiving group and removes a key weapon for third-year quarterback Drake Maye. The next receivers on the depth chart include Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, and DeMario Douglas.

Stefon signed a three-year, $63.5 million deal with the Patriots before the 2025 season. Only part of the contract was guaranteed.

The wide receiver recently pleaded not guilty to charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery. It is not clear whether the legal case played any role in the team’s decision.
