Shannon Sharpe reacted to San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York’s prostitution-related arrest, defending the billionaire during a discussion about the case.
“Ain’t nothing wrong with that,” he said on a recent episode of Nightcap.
York was arrested Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, after allegedly responding to a prostitution ad and offering $140 for sex at a trailer park. He was initially charged with engaging in prostitution before the charge was reduced to disorderly conduct. York pleaded no contest.
Sharpe, 58, was far less bothered by the allegations than co-host Joe Johnson, who questioned the location and circumstances.
“You think the man cause he’s worth a billion dollars he don’t want to wet his whistle?” Sharpe said with a smirk.
He later remarked, “Sometimes you like them sleazy,” as the hosts joked about the alleged $140 price.
Sharpe made clear he did not believe York’s arrest made him a bad person.
“It don’t make him no bad brother,” he said. “The man is human… he a man and he still got needs.”
Sharpe is no stranger to having his own sex life become public. He once accidentally broadcast audio from a sexual encounter on Instagram Live while employed by ESPN.
His time at the network later ended while he faced sexual assault allegations, which were eventually settled.
The 49ers said York’s legal matter is resolved. The NFL is reviewing the incident.
