Sha’Carri Richardson, the Olympic gold medalist known for her record-breaking speed on the track, was arrested Thursday in Florida on a charge of dangerous driving after authorities said she was traveling at more than 100 mph.
According to jail booking records, the 25-year-old sprinter was taken into custody and booked into the Orange County Jail on a charge of “dangerous excessive speeding at 100 mph or more.”
Her bond was set at $500.

In August, Richardson was arrested following an incident at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport involving her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman. She later apologized publicly, and Coleman declined to press charges. In 2021, she was suspended for one month after testing positive for THC at the U.S. Olympic trials, which prevented her from competing in the Tokyo Games.
Florida’s super speeder law, which went into effect last July, makes it illegal to drive 50 mph over the speed limit or to exceed 100 mph. A first conviction can result in up to 30 days in jail or a $500 fine. A second conviction may lead to 90 days in jail or a $1,000 fine, along with possible license suspension.
Richardson has not yet commented on the latest charge.
