Chrishell Stause is saying goodbye to Selling Sunset after nine seasons, saying the hit Netflix series is no longer good for her mental health.
The 44-year-old actress-turned-real-estate pro revealed in an interview with Bustle that she’s stepping away from the show to prioritize her well-being.
“I’ve vacillated back and forth with this decision in the past,” she said. “Having come from nothing, it’s really hard to turn something like this down. But I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially. I’m lucky to have other forms of employment because it’s no longer good for my mental health.”
Stause, who joined Selling Sunset in 2019, said she wishes her costars well if the series continues. “If they do continue, I wish them the best,” she told Bustle. “It’s given me so many opportunities, and I don’t want to be bitter about it even though I’m leaving not in the way that I would’ve loved.”
On Instagram, she thanked fans for their support, writing that while the season ended on a “sour note,” she would always be grateful for the show that introduced her to them.
Her exit comes amid a season filled with on- and off-screen tension. Viewers criticized the cast for microaggressions toward Black women, including Chelsea Lazkani and Amanza Smith.
Mary Bonnet faced backlash after dismissing flowers sent by Lazkani following her miscarriage, with fans calling the reaction insensitive.
Stause also clashed with several castmates and described the reunion as “brutal.” “In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward,” she said.
