Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson announced Wednesday that he is saying goodbye to his playing career and joining CBS Sports as part of The NFL Today.
“As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and the NFL Today, I’m so blessed to continue doing what I love most, being around the greatest game in the world,” Wilson said.
The post also included a simple message from the quarterback: “Thank You, Football. Love, #3.”
Wilson leaves the field after 14 NFL seasons, most of them spent in Seattle. He played 10 seasons with the Seahawks, then continued his career with the Denver Broncos for two seasons before later playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.
His résumé includes 10 Pro Bowl selections, 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdown passes, and 114 interceptions. Wilson led the league in passer rating in 2015 and passing touchdowns in 2017. He was also named second-team All-Pro in 2019 and received the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for 2020.
At CBS, Wilson is set to take over the spot previously held by Matt Ryan, who appeared on The NFL Today in 2024 and 2025 before joining the Atlanta Falcons as president of football operations.
