The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne has revealed that she will not be making her estranged husband, Tom Girardi sign any papers, because it’s unlikely that he will be around for much longer.
The singer filed for divorce from Tom in 2020 after he was arrested and charged with fraud and embezzlement. The couple had been married for 21 years. She is 53, and he is 85.
“ I don’t know that the divorce will go anywhere. He’s not competent to defend it,” Erika’s attorney said per The Sun US.
“I don’t know that you could have a divorce in these circumstances,” he said, adding that the Broadway star will most likely just wait “until he dies… Tom made a lot of mistakes, I get that, but I think he’s suffering from dementia. I don’t think he’ll live long.”
Tom was convicted on four counts of wire fraud for embezzling over $15 million from his clients. In his heyday, he was known for securing that massive $333 million settlement in the PG&E case that inspired “Erin Brockovich.”
Girardi’s firm, Girardi & Keese, went bankrupt, and he was hit with multiple lawsuits for missing client funds. Despite claims of dementia and late-onset Alzheimer’s, a judge ruled him competent to stand trial.
