Porsha Williams returned to The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s 16th season, and in Sunday’s premiere episode, she opened up about her failed marriage to Nigerian businessman Simon Guobadia.
Porsha told producers that even though things look picture-perfect on camera and on social media, she had serious trust issues before she filed for divorce.
“In my relationship with Simon, I felt like if I had him by my side, we could conquer anything. However, I just started realizing a lot of different things that turned out to be untruths,” she told producers.
Porsha claimed Simon hid his financial issues from her from the very beginning.
“He wouldn’t tell me what our finances were,” she said. “It’s not like I was sitting here like some dumb little wife and just enjoying some money. No, I actually asked my husband, ‘What is going on?'”
Guobadia’s immigration status in the United States. In February, the Nigerian native was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) amid President Trump’s mass deportation plan.
Simon was detained by ICE earlier this year. He has been in the U.S. since 1982 and, despite being deported from the country, has returned several times and tried to obtain citizenship and was repeatedly denied.
He was deported back to Nigeria in 1992 after facing charges of bank and credit card fraud but allegedly returned under an unrevealed identity and was granted permanent residency status.
