Mystikal’s son, Million Tyler, is speaking out after the rapper was sentenced to 20 years in prison following his guilty plea to rape.
In an interview with TMZ on Monday, June 22, Tyler said he is still sorting through what his father’s case has meant for everybody affected.
“I feel bad for the victim as well as my father,” Tyler said. “Nobody wins from these situations. It’s hard for both parties.”
Mystikal, whose legal name is Michael Tyler, received the sentence on June 12 in connection with a July 2022 assault at his Prairieville, Louisiana, home. During the sentencing hearing, the victim asked the judge for the maximum sentence.
“It’s a lot to deal with, a lot to compartmentalize in my mind,” Tyler explained. “It creates a huge array of different emotions and things to have to deal with from the situation. A lot of decisions that he made I don’t agree with.”
Tyler, who is building his own music career, said the case also affected his momentum. While he is extremely talented, fans are comparing him to his father because they share nearly identical styles.
“I’m trying to be my own artist, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “It did slow me down with music for a little bit,” before wishing that his father, who has been in and out of prison for sexual crimes, gets himself some help.
