Former NBA player Patrick Beverley is in the headlines this week after he was accused of violently assaulting his 15-year-old sister.
Patrick Beverley has been charged in Texas after allegedly assaulting his 15-year-old sister, according to court documents. Beverley, 37, was arrested in Fort Bend County and later released on $40,000 bail. The affidavit claims he became enraged after learning his sister had met her boyfriend late at night.
Beverley allegedly choked her for up to 30 seconds, slammed her into walls, and punched her in the eye, leaving visible injuries. He also reportedly threatened to kill her. Beverley faces charges including assault and impeding breathing.

His attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, issued a statement vehemently denying the charges.
According to the attorney, the statements leading to his arrest were“given at a time when emotions were high. As I’ve said before, we don’t believe that the description in that affidavit is accurate, nor is it complete.”
She continued, “He is the provider and protector of his family, including his little sister and his mom. He has always looked out for their wellbeing and will continue to do so. I have every expectation that when all the facts are in, Patrick will be cleared of these charges. Until then, I can only ask that everyone keep an open mind and not rush to judgment. Please remember this is America and in our society, Patrick is innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law.”
Quinones-Hollins’ statement comes right after the player issued a much shorter statement penned by her on X, formerly Twitter.
