Nick Cannon: My 15-Year-Old Son w/ Mariah Can Date …But His Twin Sister Can’t

DADDY DISCOURAGEMENT! Nick Cannon Admits to “Absolute Double Standard” Regarding Moroccan & Monroe’s Dating Lives!

Media Take Out has the absolute “Protective Papa” update from the father of twelve himself! While Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion are dealing with grown-man drama, Nick Cannon is out here trying to keep his 15-year-old daughter, Monroe, in a fortress of solitude—while his son, Moroccan, gets the green light to play the field!

In a brand-new interview on The TMZ Podcast over the weekend (May 2, 2026), Nick sat down with his Wild ‘N Out co-star Rip Micheals and kept it 100% real about the different rules in the Cannon-Carey household.

“Absolutely A Double Standard”

Nick didn’t even try to hide it. When asked if he’s encouraging Monroe to date the same way he’s been hyping up Moroccan, Nick’s answer was a hard, “No, absolutely not.”

  • The Boy’s Club: Nick admits he’s been encouraging Moroccan to go on dates, get out there, and “be a man.”
  • The Girl’s Guard: For Monroe? Not so much. Nick openly admitted: “First of all, it’s absolutely a double standard… but there is a difference when parenting a son and then when parenting a daughter.”

Why the Lockdown?

Nick’s reasoning isn’t about being “mean”—it’s about being a worried dad.

  1. The Physical Fear: Nick admitted his “worst nightmare” is a guy putting his hands on Monroe. He says he’s more protective of her because of the “certain type of individuals” out there.
  2. The “Reaction” Factor: Nick joked (but was he?) that if anyone ever hurt Monroe, he’d end up in jail.“I’m going to jail,” he said plainly about his potential reaction.

No “Gold Diggers” Here!

When the hosts brought up the risk of girls coming for Moroccan’s money, Nick laughed it off with a nod to the kids’ legendary mother, Mariah Carey.

“His mom is Mariah Carey! The kid’s got enough money to foot the bill!” Basically, Moroccan’s bank account is “Infinity” status, so Nick isn’t worried about anyone taking advantage of the teen’s wallet.

The “Monroe Clause”: There Is Hope!

It’s not a permanent ban, though! Nick says he’s open to letting Monroe date—but she has to work for it.

  • The Pitch: If Monroe can properly explain exactly what is going to happen on the date and keep the communication “open and honest,” Nick says he’ll loosen the reins.
  • The Goal: With college on the horizon, Nick says he wants to prepare her for independence, but he’s not rushing it.

Catch Him Live!

If you want to hear more of Nick’s wild parenting takes, he and the crew are heading to L.A. next week for the Netflix Is A Joke Festival (May 9, 2026) at the United Theater on Broadway.

Is Nick being “toxic” with this double standard, or is he just a girl-dad doing what girl-dads do? Let us know in the comments!
