Hayden Panettiere’s former neighbor says she called 911 at least half a dozen times over disturbances at the actress’ West Hollywood home and claims she once saw Panettiere looking “terrified.”
Mia Terrazzas spoke to Inside Edition following Panettiere’s death at age 36, recalling what she says she witnessed while living near the Nashville star and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson.
Asked whether she saw signs of domestic violence, Terrazzas replied, “Oh, absolutely.”
“I saw her leaving on a gurney,” Terrazzas claimed. “It looked to me that she had suffered some type of trauma that looked to be battering. It was clear she was terrified.”
Terrazzas also alleged Hickerson damaged Panettiere’s apartment, claiming there were occasions when he “took a sledgehammer” to her bathroom early in the morning.
Panettiere previously wrote about abuse by Hickerson in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning. Hickerson pleaded no contest in 2021 to two felony counts of injuring a partner and served jail time. In an interview with TMZ, he admitted to being abusive toward her.
Panettiere was found unresponsive Sunday in Greenville, South Carolina. Hickerson and his brother were reportedly at the residence when authorities arrived. According to reports, Hickerson’s brother was highly emotional when the emergency services arrived, but Hickerson did not become emotional until after the star was pronounced deceased.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said her cause and manner of death remain pending and noted there were no obvious signs of trauma.
